PC POST #208:-REVIEW- The Mega Plush part1

You probably might think why am i doing this review since this blog is Punisher related but i like to imagine that in the plush kingdom the Punisher has some sort of "representative" and his name is Mega Bear!

This is part1 of this animated series called the Mega Plush. Who is the Mega Plush? They are a group of vigilantes who fights SOC army and his evil leader to takeover the plush kingdom. The story seems quite simple but the animation is one of the best i've seen in years. This series has everything to be a success and due to a fact that any character speaks any language it makes this acessible to everyone in this world.

About this episode, Mega Bear is amazing and... cute. Bad mood, agile, a bit torn (which make me believe he is a veteran) and his steel leg give him an instant badass look. He hunts a poor chimp that belongs to SOC army who runs in fear from him. Mega Bear punish him with a shoot in the leg. The chimp who is injured manages to escape his vision and lead the Bear to a trap and this episode concludes with Mega Bear shooting.

Matt Burniston and his crew did a wonderful job developing this episode and part2 already available with a new character Mega Tiger. The animation is top notch and the storytelling is quite entertaining. One thing that caught my ear is the soundtrack, it's simply epic goodness!

I would love to see more action scenes with Mega Bear like we saw with the Tiger in part 2. I want to know more about Mega Bear and his past. How did he lost one of his legs and why he is all patched up. That get me the feeling that he is fighting for years.

Can't wait for more episodes of this series.

PC POST #198: -REVIEW- Marvel's Avengers Confidential: Black Widow & Punisher

Well in overall i like it. It's way better than Technovore in every way... Animation, action and plotwise more interesting.

The Frank that is present in this book is a bit of sort of Ennis and Rucka's. He didn't talk too much and when he talks he is really straigh forward with much words as needed.

Unfortunately he is a bit one dimensional character and sometimes a bit "short sighted" for the "whole picture" that was this movie all about.

The other thing i didn't like at all and almost ruined it for me is that once again they used the Punisher (brainwashed) to kill a few SHIELD (innocent) guards... I'm tired of producers/writers using Frank for this stuff over and over again.

It could be more interesting if they used Black Widow instead of the Punisher, since her "weaponry" it's less lethal than the Punisher.

I like to see the Punisher in most of the scenes with the exception i mentioned above. He gots plenty of spotlight in this movie as one of the main character and he uses a lot of stealth, hand to hand fight (really good) and the classic shoot em up. It was really a pleasure to see finally the Punisher in action in a animation film.

This story in my opinion was more centered in Black Widow than in the Punisher. The only reason that Frank was on board was to capture Cain. The main villain only appeared in the end of this film and i didn't care about him, the only good thing is that Frank put him out for good with a good sequence of action scenes.

 After a year of waiting finally Marvel launched this animated film. It's the same guys from Rise of Technovore. The animation seems really nice and fluid. I hope the story can be better than the last movie.

PC POST #137: Iron Man: Rise of Technovore (Review)

Hello everyone, i will divide this review in two parts. I will begin to review the movie itself on the first part and second i will talk about Frank's appearence.

 

Iron Man: Rise of Technovore review

First of all by the trailers i've seen, i really got thrilled by the coming of this animation but it was kind of a let down and i will explain why.

Tony Stark is launching a new satellite named Howard. The objective of this satellite is to watch the entire planet and look for suspected criminal behavior for the appropriate can prevent crimes. But this launch is interrupted by a super villain and like Tony this guy got a suit too, his suit is made of some sort of biomechanical in nature. This biomechanical suit (named Technovore) bests Iron Man and War Machine in battle and all the fuss this battle created caughts the attention of S.H.I.E.L.D.

S.H.I.E.L.D want to know more about this Technovore guy and detain  Tony because is kind of obssessed with him and want to revenge is friend War Machine ( When they fought Technovore, Tony thought that War Machine were dead). They couldn't handle with Iron Man and they sent his best agents to handle him Hawkeye and Black Widow.

This guy Ezekiel Stane the "owner" of this Technovore suit is a superior kid with some bad philosophical nonsense which he talks about most of his screen time. He is son of a former villain of Iron Man, Obadiah Stane he is dead right know and when we take these conclusions at first we thought that Ezekiel may want to take revenge but no, he hated his father.

This movie itself was below average, bad dialogue and too much brightness. They could use a bit more of some capabilities of the Howard satellite but they didn't matter to use it.

The best part for me were the Punisher appearence it was the best eleven minutes of this animation. Frank helps Iron Man to get rid of Hawkeye and Black Widow the action weren't mind blowing but it was cool.

The voice acting of Frank ( Norman Reedus) was good and the character itself was well represented in this animation.

The Punisher and Iron Man encountered together because they were after some weapons dealers in the middle eastern and Iron Man was looking for some clues about Technovore. The Punisher helped Tony with some hints about Ezekiel.

Meanwhile the S.H.I.E.L.D. trace them and sent Hawkeye and Black Widow to capture them. Iron Man got hit by some arrows of Hawkeye's and get his suit jammed.While submitted by BW and Hawkeye, the Punisher helped him with a grenade and Iron Man fall in the roof of his car and they flee.

BW and H. chase them and make the Punisher's car foil. The Punisher tries to gain some time and throw them a flash grenade and try to submit them. (while Iron Man fully recharges his batteries because of the damage of the arrows of Hawkeye). He couldn't stand too much against them but it was enough for Iron Man recharged and flew away. In the next panel we see Frank in a motorcycle (the one that was used by BW and H. to pursue him) and getting away. ( don't understand why they let him go).

 Movie Avaliation: 2.5 out of 5

PC POST #114: Iron Man - Rise of Technovore Synopsis + Images

So we got recently news about this animation movie that will feature The Punisher, it will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on April 16th.

This movie will feature: Hawkeye, Black Widow, War Machine and Nick Fury.
The cast includes Norman Reedus (The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day and TV's The Walking Dead) as Punisher.

Heres the official synopsis:

Billionaire Tony Stark, in his Iron Man armor, prevents an attack from a mysterious new foe, but innocent bystanders are killed, including his best friend War Machine, Lt. Colonel James Rhodes. Detained for questioning by S.H.I.E.L.D., Iron Man escapes, determined to find the mastermind behind the attack. Pursued by Black Widow and Hawkeye, Iron Man enlists the help of the ruthless vigilante The Punisher. But can the Armored Avenger handle what he finds when he catches the person responsible and is forced to face his deadliest weapon, a biotechnology called Technovore that could wipe out all life on the planet?

PC POST #105: Punisher Animated Movie & Thunderbolts NOW!

Great news guys it seems that the Punisher will have a new animated movie after Rise of Technovore!!

In an interview posted by Word Balloon podcast, Jeph Loeb said that the Punisher and Black Widow will team up after the upcoming Iron Man: Rise of Technovore.  We will be in "state" of alert about further developments for this movie.

 

Thunderbolts NOW!

Sometimes disparate groups of people can come together and surprise you with their camaraderie and teamwork as they overcome the odds and seize the day.
Other times you end up like the cast of THUNDERBOLTS, who find themselves under siege from outside forces and dissension in the ranks starting with issue #7 out in March thanks to the creative team of writer Daniel Way and artist Phil Noto.
“Going into the second arc, the Thunderbolts are on the brink of self-annihilation, a development that would make a large percentage of the Marvel Universe very, very happy,” Way reveals. “You saw the cover for #7, right? That’s about the only working relationship within the team going into the second arc, and even that one isn’t free of mortal danger.”

However, just because the team does not work well together does not mean they do not “work” well with their writer, who has been pleasantly startled at how quickly the characters have felt comfortable to him.
“Once you start writing these characters, they just…materialize, fully formed,” he enthuses. “That’s amazing, and it’s a credit to their various creators. I’m a bit surprised at how, by their very design, these characters still retain their ‘lone wolf’ personas, even while operating as part of a group.
“And one other thing: I never would’ve guessed that Deadpool would become the ‘heart’ of the group.”
For Noto, the team has been a delight to draw although perhaps more of a challenge to fully realize.
“I've drawn Deadpool quite a bit, but I've always been a big fan of the Punisher and Venom, so that's a thrill,” he shares. “Red Hulk is great because of his size and contrast to the other characters. And I've always dreamed of drawing Elektra in a real comic book so I'm in heaven!

The Punisher

“Frank Castle's been the trickiest for me to draw. I don't want to just ape another artist's Punisher, so I've tried to create my original version of him. Usually a specific actor will come to mind and that gives me a good foundation but I couldn't cast Frank in my head. I ended up with some original head sketches though that are working well.”
While Noto managed to find an approach to Frank that works, the Thunderbolts will struggle in the book’s second arc. Vulnerable from their internal squabbling, they quickly find themselves beset by an enemy who represents a particularly painful threat to at least one member of the team.

“It’s an established character, though one that hasn’t been seen in a few years,” Way teases. “As far as how this character is related to the Thunderbolts? To one of them, the answer is: ‘by blood.’”
Unfortunately, the external threats to the squad do not stop there.
“The level of blowback leveled at the Thunderbolts will soon match the level of blowback occurring within the Thunderbolts,” Way divulges. “After the events of issue #7 the CIA, in particular, will be more than concerned with their actions.

“Oh, and the Avengers.”

Way and Noto promise fans the book will ratchet up the intensity to be more than equal to the strife the team now must face.
“I'm trying to add a bit more realism to this book in terms of the ‘world’ they inhabit,” Noto explains. “I feel the tone of the story is a cool action/military adventure that just happens to have some super hero characters in it. There's definitely a globe-hopping Indiana Jones/ Bond vibe to the variety of the locations.”
“Physically [this storyline takes the team] from one end of the Asian continent to the other as well as a few quick jaunts into Eastern Europe and North Africa,” Way notes.
“Emotionally, [they go] to the bleeding edge.”

It seems 2013 it will be a good year besides the canceled ongoing written by Rucka, but we will have two movies with the appearence of the Punisher maybe we got more news in the upcoming months, stay tuned!
