PC POST #392: [Rumor] Punisher Season 2 new character descriptions and a possible storyline

Earlier today we've been hinted by The Hashtag Show about three character roles for Marvel TV. This is still a rumor, not an official source. But still, they did some logical connections.

Marvel TV is looking to cast two female and one male role. Those characters names are:

Annie Beir - A 16-year-old who is described as “someone who is used to the streets and is both scrappy and aware of her environment.”

Kim Davis -A mid 30's female regular series therapist.

Melvin Skelling - An honest detective in his early-30's.

The Hashtag Show make the logical connection that Annie Beir might be Viorica from the Slavers arc, one of the darkest stories ever written for the Punisher by Garth Ennis. In this story, Frank saves this young girl (Viorica) whose story helps Frank discover those behind the sex slaves ring. Vera Konstantin and Cristu Bulat.

This is where Kim Davis might enter if she will have the same role as Jen Cooke in that story.

The other character breakdown connection was Melvin Skelling being Martin Soap. Martin Soap does have nothing to do with the Slavers arc, but the character made his first debut in "Welcome Back, Frank". He was part of a "damned" police department that no one wanted to belong. The Punisher Task Force. Soap is a good cop but during the Punisher MK run by Ennis, he was one of the unluckiest characters ever in a Punisher comic.

Again, this is just speculation. It's not official. But it would be great to see The Slavers being portrayed in the Punisher season 2. Being this story one of the darkest stories ever written for the Punisher, it would be a good call to see Frank back as the Punisher.

Steve Lightfoot revealed that he would like to see Barracuda and Kathryn O'Brien in the Punisher series. Not to mention Billy Russo as Jigsaw that might appear in season 2. Too many things in hands and very few info.

So far the only official details about the show are that it will be set in New York and they will start shooting this year.

PC POST #326: Five new actors added to Marvel's Punisher cast

Another bit of news were released today by Marvel announcing five new actors that will be part of Netflix original series "Marvel's The Punisher".

Daniel Webber (“11.22.63”) has been cast as Lewis Walcott, a young veteran who has had a difficult time re-assimilating into Civilian Society.

Jaime Ray Newman (“Bates Motel”) plays Sarah Lieberman, Micro’s wife (played by Ebon Moss-Bachrach) whose marriage has made her life far more complicated.

Jason R. Moore (“A Lonely Place for Dying”) joins as Curtis Hoyle, a friend of Frank Castle’s and one of the few people who knows he is alive.

Michael Nathanson (“The Knick,” “Wolf of Wall Street”) has been cast as Sam Stein, a Homeland agent who is challenged by his partnership with Dinah (Amber Rose  Revah).

Paul Schulze (“Nurse Jackie”) will play Rawlins, a high-ranking member of the CIA whose operations in Afghanistan intersect with Frank Castle.  

"We couldn't have asked for a more talented group of actors to round out the cast of Marvel's The Punisher," said Executive Producer and showrunner Steve Lightfoot. "It's a thrill to watch them each bring their characters to life with such layered, nuanced performances.”

"Marvel TV is very proud of the cast of The Punisher," said Executive Producer Jeph Loeb, "Each actors brings a special promise who surround Jon Bernthal's exceptional performance."

Deborah An Woll will reprise her role as Karen Page from Marvel’s Daredevil for Marvel’s The Punisher, alongside star Jon Bernthal as the Punisher himself, Frank Castle. Bernthal debuted in the role in Marvel’s Daredevil Season 2.

Steve Lightfoot (Hannibal) is writing the first two episodes of Marvel’s The Punisher for Netflix and will serve as series showrunner and Executive Producer. Jim Chory and Jeph Loeb are also executive producers.

Marvel’s The Punisher is produced by Marvel Television, in association with ABC Studios and Netflix. Marvel’s The Punisher will debut on Netflix in 2017.

So far, i am liking the right balance between known characters from comics with totally unknown exclusively created for the show.

PC POST #322: Marvel's Punisher set for 2017, new characters and new photos on set!

Today we have been "bombarded" with Punisher news ! Three new characters, release date and new photos on set with a Daredevil's character.

First things first, Marvel finally revealed that the Punisher series will premiere in 2017. 

Good news for Marvel fans in general, because next year we will have Iron Fist, Defenders and Punisher series.

Three new characters were announced. 

Ben Barnes will play Billy Russo, unlike the Punisher War Zone movie and comics, "this" Billy Russo was Frank Castle's best friend from his days in Special Forces. He runs a private military corporation called "Anvil".

Ebon Moss-Bachrach will play Microchip, a former NSA analyst whose secrets will help Frank Castle and everyone around them.

Not the Microchip everyone were expecting but let's see how Ebon will portray him.

And finally Amber Rose Revah joins the cast as Dinah Madani, a highly trained Homeland security agent who is vexed by the Punisher. An original character created for this series.

A new set of photos was released with a Daredevil character... Can you guess who she is?

 

 

 

 

It was far from being a surprise for me. She was by far the only link to humanity that Frank ever had in Daredevil season 2. 

I don't believe this will be a "thing" between the two, but she might be a huge help to Frank, as a journalist.

I didn't think that Jigsaw was a big villain from the Punisher. But now, with this huge retcon to the character it might get even more interesting. Because they were friends in the past and both probably have similar skill set.
He isn't just a mafia enforcer like in the comics and in Punisher: War Zone (2008).

Great day to be a Punisher fan and a Marvel fan too.

PC POST #294: Marvel's Punisher Tv series... CONFIRMED!

After all the hype behind of the great acting of Jon Bernthal as the Punisher, Netflix surrendered to the claims of the fans and already ordered a Punisher series.

The producer and showrunner will be Steve Lightfoot ("Hannibal"), Jeph Loeb ( Executive Producer/Head of Marvel Television) thanks to the fans about all the excitment about the powerful performance of Jon Bernthal as the Punisher in Marvel's Daredevil.

“For me, the complexity and unpredictability of Frank Castle make him an incredibly compelling character and I couldn’t be more excited to dive into his world. After watching Jon’s performance in ‘Marvel’s Daredevil’ I could not be more excited to be working with him to further develop and progress the story of this anti-hero in a show of his own." Said Steve Lightfoot (Producer and Showrunner of Marvel's Punisher).

Marvel's Punisher will mark the sixth series ordered by Netflix. And will join to the other series like Marvel's Luke Cage, Marvel's Iron Fist, Marvel's Defenders and Marvel's Jessica Jones.

So far there is no official date of the release but it's a safe bet if i guess it's somewhere in 2018 due to the high scheduling of Netflix in producing the other series already announced.

What matters is that we are getting our Punisher series and we should be happy about it. 

Good luck to Steve Lightfoot and i hope he can nail the character as Marco Rodriguez and Doug Petrie did in Marvel's Daredevil.
