PC POST #350: Alternate Assassination: Punisher's Most Killed Villain

The Punisher got one problem, he can't kill major Marvel villains too often. But sometimes, when the world is ending or when he is in alternate universes the creative teams take the liberty to tell Frank's story without chains and let him be himself and do his job.

Although there is a certain character that is more "killed" than others and that man does not even belong to the Punisher's rogue gallery but made his appearance in Punisher comics several times, his name is...

WILSON FISK AKA THE KINGPIN!

The Kingpin is the most feared crime lord of the Marvel Universe, so it doesn't need a rocket scientist to figure it out that one way or another he would cross paths with the Punisher.
Both have fought hand-to-hand a few times.

In the first time Frank took a beating during Punisher Vol. 2 #15-#18.

And in the most recent Civil War II: Kingpin #3, there was a more balanced fight between Frank and Fisk. Another spectacular fight with no winner.

What If... Vol.2 #026 The Punisher had Killed Daredevil 

After accidentally kill Daredevil, most of the street level heroes went after Frank to bring him in and Fisk took advantage of it while all attentions were to Frank to rise up.
After a brutal fight between the Punisher and Peter Parker (injured and out of his mind) and without any chance but to kill Parker he went after Kingpin. Injured and without weapons he tried his luck, without any chance he died at the ends of Kingpin...but, he had a surprise.

Secret Wars #1 (2015)

The final days of universe 616 are almost over, with Kingpin inviting some super villains to celebrate the defeat of worlds mightiest heroes, during the party they don't expect a visitor... The Punisher with a huge amount of bullets fulfilling his mission until the end of his life and the main Marvel universe. 

This was the only time he killed Kingpin and other villains in the main Marvel universe.

In Punisher #19 (2014) by Nathan Edmondson and Mitch Gerads we can clearly see Frank getting out of the bar in flames.

Marvel Zombies vs Army of Darkness #02

Ash Williams lost his Necromicon book and wants to recover it to reverse what happened to Marvel Universe and it's heroes and villains, most of them are zombies. It's a battle of survival and Ash cross paths with Frank Castle with zero priorities in recovering the book his only mission is to terminate all crime.

He visits Kingpin and Hammerhead to deliver the final punishment.

What if Vol. 2 #044 Venom had possessed the Punisher

In this alternate universe the Punisher got possessed by the Venom symbiote and of course he wages his war on crime. After destroying most of criminal world he looks for Kingpin and not even Typhoid Mary or Daredevil could stop him from killing Kingpin.

The Punisher vs Marvel Universe

The Punisher was responsible to infect the earth with a virus that turned people into cannibals. Frank Castle is immune to it for being exposed to that virus. Along the way of his war he found non infected people and ends up being caught by Kingpin's tribe with a little help from Deadpool he could get rid of the ropes and ends Kingpin's life along with his tribe.

The Punisher Kills Marvel Universe

Definitely one of the most entertaining stories from an alternate Universe, this time his family was killed during a fight between heroes and skrulls and Frank wage is war on heroes and villains. Kingpin is just another guy that deserves to be dead.

PUNISHERMAX #21

After failing to assassinate Frank by hiring assassins such as Bullseye and Elektra, Kingpin decides to kill Frank with his own hand. After a violent fight between both characters only one of the two was the last man standing. It was Frank Castle. Frank died from the injuries a few moments before.

Kingpin might not belong originally to the Punisher rogues gallery but he sure could be his nemesis. More than Jigsaw or any other.

PC POST #320: -REVIEW- Civil War II: Kingpin #3

I have been waiting for weeks for this issue to come out, so far, the only thing interesting from Civil War II, as been the tie-ins.

Kingpin vs the Punisher. These two got such rich history in the past and i was very excited to see how this will going to be executed.

I have been following this tie in of Kingpin and it's been really entertaining so far. Now to issue #3.

Kingpin is trying to establish his "business" in New York and he is looking for his contact "Janus", probably the only guy in the world that can set up a crime and escape from Ulysses radar of "predictive justice".

Matthew Rosenberg built a very entertaining story around Fisk. The way he introduces the Punisher inside Fisk's circle was smart and i would not have dreamed about until Frank starts shooting.

The fight and dialog among these characters is good. Specially the fight.

Rosenberg respected both characters without falling into the trap of excel Fisk over Frank because he is in his own book.
Fisk is physically superior to Frank, this is fact but Frank is a walking armory, he uses everything to put down Fisk.

The mine in Frank's chest was over the top, but it was somewhat spectacular, it's the second time we saw this in the Punisher history. First time was in Thunderbolts.

Last panels of this fight is really engaging and it was very satisfying. There was no winners or losers, but this, was the result i was expecting.

The art of Ricardo Ortiz and Hayden Sherman, was ok, nothing too fancy to me but it was pretty decent. The action was good, In one panel or two Fisk got some red eyes but it was on purpose and sometimes it look somewhat cartoonish.

Mat Lopes did a good job with the coloring and definitely helped a lot the artwork of this book. Good choice of the colors and very balanced. It was eye catchy.

Aaron Kuder just nailed the cover, artistically very well executed. That shadow below Frank's eyes remembers me Mike Zeck artwork when he draws the Punisher. Frank Martin gave extra quality to this cover and did not fail to impress. He keeps the great quality as we saw in the Punisher run.

Conclusion: It was a really good issue, specially for the Punisher appearance. Great fight and respectable writing from Matthew Rosenberg. The art could be better but it was decent in the right moments. It's very recommendable for every Punisher fan. Even if you do not follow this run, just buy this single issue.

The cover is one of the best i have seen this year. Aaron just nailed it.

In September 28th it will be released another Punisher appearence in a Civil War II tie-in. This time in a Kingpin comic book.
Kingpin is trying to ensemble a new criminal empire but Frank Castle takes notice.

As usual the artwork of these tie-in isn't over the top but i'm looking for something exciting specially because Fisk and Castle got a history together.

PC POST #131: Punisher Kills Marvel Universe (Battles Review)

Punisher Kills Marvel Universe

-Battles review by a Punisher fan-

Well first of all i'm a Punisher fan. But i don't consider myself  fanboy or anyone who could not face facts. 

So i will review the most controversy fights in this "What If..." story. 

To begin with i like the Garth Ennis Punisher but this one seems a bit edgy for my taste but this story was very entertaining and funny to read but i think that some character are a bit underated.

For everyone who didn't read this story it's in an alternate world when Frank's family were killed by the superheroes while they were fighting with the Skrull and Brood alien races. His family was just caught in the crossfire... 

Punisher vs Cyclops 

The Punisher could hand Cyclops in this situation, because Cyclops wouldn't expect that Castle could react this way and if Castle could draw fast enough (which i believe so) he could shot Cyclops.

Castle wins by the element of surprise. I will brand this as Believable.

Right after shooting Cyclops, Castle attacks the other group of superheroes... In this image i see Hawkeye and Jubilee been shot, once again they were suprised by Castle actions. Believable.

Punisher vs Spider-Man and Venom

 

The only doubt i got in here is with Spider-Man if he could have been knocked out like Venom without a doubt the Punisher could kill him. I think Spidey could react more faster and prevent the Punisher from killing him instead of asking questions. So, for Venom death is Believable and Spider-Man Not Believable.

Punisher vs Hulk 

This is one of the most realistic deaths of a superhero in this comic, there is nothing to add the images explain itself. Frank put a tracer in the Hulk and awaited for Banner turn to his human self and then shot him. Believable.

Punisher vs Kingpin 

 Kingpin's got an incredible strenght but he is human and he is no match for bullets. Believable.

Punisher vs Dr.Doom

This one is a little difficult for me to decide, i can see the Punisher using a magnetic mine to explode Dr.Doom's face but how could he find the real Doom? I can see Doom underestimating Frank and face him by himself so i will brand this one as Believable.

Punisher vs Mutants

First of all Frank got himself a nuke in Latveria when he beat Dr.Doom. I can see him sending an invite for both factions "good" and "bad" mutants they could smell some sort of trap but they always go looking for it. But if this meeting were on the Moon, they should be in some sort of building for them to breathe, i don't believe they were in an open space. So i will go with the logical explanation, they were in an controled environment. Believable.

Punisher vs Wolverine 

 Frank found Wolverine drinking and wailing for his buddies and friends deaths. I don't know if the "state" drunk affects Wolverine even so i don't believe Frank could handle this guy hand to hand so easily, he is superior in strenght and definetley he couldn't just frying him and go away. To kill Wolverine he would need a Muramasa blade, drowning him, sending him into space without suit or probably throw him into a vulcano. I think Garth should had write this one a little better. By frying Wolverine, sooner his healing factor would kick in and he would be on his feet. Not Believable.

Punisher vs Captain America 

This one is a bit controversial too, i'm not a fan of Captain America and Frank got a point by comparing 'Nam with WW2. 'Nam was dirtier. Everyone knows that Frank works alone so i don't believe that Cap would have fall for this cheap trick. Frank stashing the weapon without Cap's notice, yes. Turning his back on Frank definetely not. Not Believable. 

Punisher vs Daredevil

Finally the last hero remain... Daredevil. When the Punisher found Daredevil he got himself beaten up. Daredevil is more agile and his inner senses are very sharp he moves like a ninja this battle couldn't have been won by hand to hand combat. Bullets weren't enough to stop him so Frank used his last resort and stab Daredevil. He was definetely surprised or he could avoid this. Believable.
