  1. apparently it put Neil Byce to sleep just like it did me...I honestly dont know why they are dragging this arc out....are they going to retire Frank and give us a New Punisher? i feel like thats where we're headed....and i'm not really a fan.

  2. Yeah, I respect the Punisher Max arc from 2012 where he died after killing the hated Kingpin. Take your pick, Sgt Cole, Lynn Michaels, Officer Stone, Nigel Higgins, Eddie Dyson, or Jimmy Pierce. Fun for a while, then stop. No more Punisher(s) in 2015 or beyond. World is a much better place than 20, 40, 60 years ago and Marvel/Disney likes heroes and maybe mutants. Wouldn't want to see Frank in a different company either. I agree with the re-boot, a chance for new stories starting with Rucka and now Edmondson although way too slow. Rucka's arc could have been 6 issues with 3 Punisher and 3 War Zone. Edmondson's arc could be 6 issues of Punisher. I will take what I can and hope I could do ok if I was writing the series but hard to see Frank dismissed. Time for Frank's character to stop and be replaced with another vigilante or a different character in the Punisher role.

  3. I'd be very sad if the character is scrapped completely...and there is plenty of reference material nowadays to play with....while gang warfare of the 90s isnt as big....look at everything happening with ISIS/Syria, Russia, etc. All these covers with the flapmask definitely is pointing to someone else taking over. I hope they figure it out and we stop getting the afterthought books tho....an entire issue dedicated to what could have been 2-3 pages of dialogue seems like a waste.

    1. Warfare deaths have been declining since 1992 with annual global war death at 250,000 plus annual global murder at 500,000. This is the lowest in world history with 7 billion people on the planet. I agree it doesn't seem so since it is streamed 24-7 to your phone making it seem bigger and worse. Also, I think franks character aging was good and helped in declining the punisher role to what we see today in a more peaceful era.

    2. Interesting that you mention "warfare deaths" because the US Government stopped declaring war during the last 2 of them. I agree that the 24 hour news cycle puts a microscope on any bad event for the sake of ratings - but to say that the world is safe and we are in a "more peaceful era" is a little much. Tensions between the middle east and rest of world are worse than they've ever been. we have organizations like ISIS running entire swaths of destablized countries like Iraq and Yemen. Politicians refuse to enact law that is supported by 70%+ of their constituents. There is so much reference material and strife (which will never end no matter how the global war death toll falls). I don't mind The Punisher aging, or even retiring eventually...but i dont want him to go out with a whimper.

    3. Well you are a gut player who believes in news coverage not cold numbers. That is fine, and it is the same region whether you consider Yemen, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Somalia, Syria, and Central African Republic stable from the Reagan Era of 30 years ago where people simply starved to death or of today where the US has to get their hands dirty and deploy ground troops. 500,000 Iraqis died under Sadaam Hussein and US sanctions from 1991 to 2003. The US government and people are responsible for 120,000 to 1 million Iraq deaths from 2003 to 2011. It was always unstable the difference is internal (starving) vs. external (war death) It isn't only just Afghanistan and Iraq that were undeclared including Korea (police action), Vietnam (Tonkin Resolution), and Gulf War (Military Action). Add in the covert operations in Latin America/Southeast Asia/Middle East plus the CIA activity in those regions plus Central Africa you have 37 countries with 30 million war deaths since the end of WWII the US is partially or completely responsible. So, you can reference ISIS and Ukraine and the Middle East although far limited in scope since the glory days of the 50s-90s. Maybe some good Punisher stories there. Frank's character is being dismissed whether I like it or not. I have struggled with his character since Rucka from 3 years ago and will be relieved once this run stops at 18. Your idea of the mask leading into another character to take over is good. Frank shouldn't be in this role if being written this way anyway, time for a new person to take over.

  4. Hey everyone, Neil was busy but he will put up a review as soon as he can... As for me here are my two cents:

It was an OK issue, Frank used his head and take advantage of it. Not the way i expected against a Howling Commando and sometimes it seems that Frank "begged" for a chance. Which is way out of character.

It's another issue with no kills by Frank and too much focused on secondary characters.
Frank's inner monologue is all over this issue but mostly are the other characters who are doing something. This Punisher is too passive for my taste.

The art of Gerads keeps the same quality as we are used too see but i would've been lying if i didn't say that it seems different from what we have been used in the first issues.

I have always defended Edmondson in this run until issue #14. But more and more he is taking off Punisher badassery and promoting his own very creations like the Howling Commandos. He isn't disgraced the character yet, but to be honest more and more i'm losing my interest in this run.

OVERALL RATE: 7 out of 10.

    1. Ivo, I've been saying that Edmonson cares about his OC's since the beginning. This was why I left the HQ fanpage, you always defended him when I got negative with him, no matter what.

    2. Well i didn't defend him but i always give the benefit of the doubt.. But now i can see you were right.

  5. Well Jesse Ronald, he's a sorry excuse for not only a Punisher fan but as a reviewer. No understand of what makes a well written story, plot, canon characterization and so on. It's just one lame excuse after the other. If there's one thing or someone that needs to be replaced... it's this website.

Edmonson is just one of many hacks that Marvel has these days, right up there with Rick Remender, Matt Fraction, Mike Carey, and Brian Bendis. They ignore canon history and act if this is there own personal fan fiction. Frank is not only useless in his book, but acts like a completely different character, from cheery to begging... we keep going from protagonist to another, Edmonson just can't make up his mind on anything.

Crime is down throughout the US and much of the world, but what difference will it make if he's replaced with someone else... the world will still be a different place... it changes nothing. Also, we don't need to see the or a Punisher fighting terrorists.

  6. Nothing wrong with Garth Ennis....but to crap on Matt Fraction...i would love to see a Matt Fraction take on Punisher. Better than this Edmonson trash.
